ABOUT THE TUTOR

Heather's classes are truly awesome!  My high school senior took several of Mrs, Heather's history and literature classes.  She enjoyed the classes immensely and learned so much,  I highly recommend her classes.  They are a great balance of enjoyable and challenging.  You and your student will be blessed by her!!“

ABOUT THE TUTOR:

I've been tutoring homeschool students in Humanities and Literature for eight years as the former co-administrator and tutor at Community Tutorial (closing in May 2020) alongside home-educating all four of my own children. Three in my bunch have graduated and moved on to bigger things, so I have one rising senior remaining at home. I've learned a thing or two about how not to bore high schoolers and get them discussing classic literature. In fact, NOT boring students is my number one goal! As I've learned working toward this goal, they are all capable of actually enjoying classic literature! I am passionate about giving students the opportunity to see what is possible for them as thinkers and doers in the world and to understand their abilities go way beyond grades and formal education. I am a teacher at heart and love to engage students on relatable themes that are applicable to all of humanity, including teenagers! Along with literature, I enjoy writing, both creatively and for entrepreneurial endeavors. As a former librarian and a graphic designer, I have a unique approach to adapting curriculum for all types of learners in today's techie world. As an art lover, I am particularly invested in the visual approach to learning that captivates students who've grown up in a digital world. I love stories, art, and history, but, maybe most of all, I love to teach.

“Ms. Heather’s literature class was absolutely instrumental to my learning, all while creating an atmosphere that was fun and pleasing to be around! If you value a good education and a good teacher then she is the one for you...especially if you’re looking to go to college in the future, like myself!”
